Why We Love Baby Yoda So Much…

November 24, 2019 By Ja Dawes

The Mandalorian has gotten off to a great start, kicking off the much-anticipated Disney+ streaming service earlier this month. But the famed bounty hunter has had the show stolen by The Child, who has seemingly stolen his heart. I’m here to tell you why we love “Baby Yoda” so much! 😈

He’s so cute.

This side of the Porgs and an infant Ewok, the Star Wars universe hasn’t seen anything this adorable…ever. And it’s not even close.

From his huge black eyes 👁 to the prickly peach fuzz on the top of his head, Baby Yoda promises to be one of the hottest-selling plush toys that Star Wars has ever seen. At least that’s my prediction.

The show is so dark

In a show that tonally and visually reminds me of something from the Predator in terms of its bleakness and war-faring tendencies, Baby Yoda is the perfect glimmer of hope.

One of the great themes in all Star Wars tales is the contrast between good and evil or hope and despair. In an unruly universe filled with gangsters, warlords and bandits, Baby Yoda’s “light” turns one of the coldest killers in the galaxy into a sympathetic antihero. That’s powerful stuff.

“O.G.” Yoda

Jon Favreau and Kathleen Kennedy were wise to harken back to one of the seminal characters from the original trilogy to kick off this series. Everyone loves the “original” Yoda.

Seeing another iteration of this unknown green species made me reminisce. And Star Wars fans like me are suckers for nostalgia. Mission accomplished.

We love you baby Yoda

With Christmas 🎄 around the corner, I’m pretty sure what needs to be added to the wish-list–a baby Yoda stuffed animal. “Disney+, I sincerely thank you on behalf of all Star Wars fans for bringing this bundle of joy to life.”
