- Avengers: Infinity War
Infinity War is the quintessential event movie. Marvel Studios’ 20-year, 20-movie journey culminates here. And boy did it deliver! Despite the heavy CGI used in portraying the super villain Thanos — his actions and movements felt natural. It’s some of the best motion effects work that I have seen since Gollum in the Lord of the Rings film trilogy.
And the heroes delivered. However, Doctor Strange, based on his uncanny ability to go toe-to-toe with the Mad Titan, and Thor, buoyed by his new weapon, Stormbreaker, really stood out. The sequel, Infinity War: Endgame, promises to be bigger and (hopefully) better. I know I speak for million$ when I say that I can’t wait for late April 2019.
2. Black Panther
Black Panther is not just a movie. It’s a cultural event that debunked myths about how successful a largely African-American casted film could be, shattered records at the box office, and delved into rarely explored themes surrounding what it means to be an African in America versus an African on the continent. This is rarefied air for a superhero film to touch on thematically, and it’s one of the reasons why the film has garnered Oscar consideration in several categories. It’s even led MCU helmer Kevin Feige to offer extremely noteworthy praise.
3. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse
Just when you thought Spider-Man: Homecoming and Spider-Man 2 were the best iterations of Spidey on the big screen, Sony surprises everyone with a unique, animated Spider-Man story. Told through the eyes of the young Miles Morales, this modern, refreshing take on Spider-Man opens up many possibilities within the Spider-Verse in particular, as well as the animated comic book movie genre in general.
I hope you enjoy the list, and I look forward to your user comments and what 2019 has to offer.

you have spider-verse above ant-man and the wasp?

Yeah, I think it was a more provocative narrative. It’s not the best superhero movie as many are suggesting but it’s a very good flick nonetheless.
