The Return of the Mandalorian (Season 2)

October 25, 2020 By Ja Dawes

“It’s all about Baby Yoda baby!!”

It’s been a long year, to say the least. From COVID-19 to political divisiveness here in the U.S., “Baby Yoda” and Din Djarin will be sights for sore eyes later this weekend on Disney+.

The Mandalorian, Season 2 could have not come at a better time!

Baby Yoda. Baby Yoda. Baby Yoda.

A friend of mine recently asked me what are the three primary reasons that I am looking forward to the first episode of Season 2 of the Mandalorian? To which i replied, “Baby Yoda, Baby Yoda and Baby Yoda.”

With all due respect to the very talented Pedro Pascal, who portrays the titular character, it should come as no surprise why I, and the rest of the civilized world, can’t get enough of “The Child.”

We’ve had some super cute and charismatic alien characters in the last 40 years of fantasy/sci-fi. From E.T. and Gizmo in the 80’s to Baby Groot most recently, Baby Yoda has taken it further and become a cultural phenomenon of sorts. Given the recent mixed reception to the latest Star Wars cinematic content, he’s restored not just hope to the galaxy but to Star Wars fans across the world.

S/he is adorable, clever, seemingly innocent, and amazingly loyal. I think that’s why the character resonates. Baby Yoda has the magnetic qualities of a cute puppy 🐶 while also reminding us of the magic and mystery of the original Star Wars trilogy (1977-1983).

I can’t wait until the night before Halloween (Friday, October 30). 🎃 No tricks. Just treats—Baby Yoda, “Mando” and friends on their latest space odyssey. 2020 has been rough, but Star Wars always offers “new hope!”
