With Halloween right around the corner, I got to thinking about which superhero movie characters are the most eerie. 🤔
We don’t typically think of comic book movies as scary nor do visions of their villains typically keep us up at night.
However, these five villains stand out to me as the most scary of the bad batch of badasses that I have seen on the big screen, since my last post on the topic at least!
- Darth Maul is not a comic book movie villain but I am compelled to place him on the list. His demonic appearance and deft fighting kills are the best moments in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace.
- Jared Nomak is the creepy Reaper baddie who gave Blade all he could handle in the sequel to the 1998 classic of the same name.
- Heath Ledger’s Joker isn’t scary in a Jason Vorhees or Michael Myers kind of way, but his Joker is funny, smart and vicious as hell.
- Darkseid in Zack Snyder’s Justice League lives up to his name. And he’s made even scarier when you realize that the film’s main baddie, Steppenwolf, is a mere appetizer in comparison to him.
- Thanos and to a lesser extent, the Black Order, cast a dark cloud over the Avengers and all of existence throughout the Infinity War Saga.
