The Batman

August 27, 2020 By Ja Dawes

At first, I wasn’t too excited when I heard that Batman was being re-cast so soon. Although I didn’t love Batman v. Superman or the Justice League movies, I was totally fine with Ben Affleck’s depiction of the Caped Crusader. In fact, Batfleck was starting to grow on me.

Enter Robert Pattinson

Like many fans and pundits, I asked myself, “why is the dude from those crappy, teenybopper Twilight ✨ movies playing Batman?!”

But after thinking things over a bit, and talking to a few folks, I came to the following conclusions:

Way back in 1989, many people, including me, questioned the casting of “Mr. Mom,” aka Michael Keaton as Batman. But he turned out just fine, thank you.

Outside of the Twilight movie franchise, Pattinson is well-respected for his performances in his smaller films. Check the resume.

If the guy is good enough for the great Christopher Nolan to cast as a co-lead in the upcoming sci-fi blockbuster movie Tenet, then he’s good enough for me.

Enter the Trailer

Ok, ok. I know we’ve all seen trailers that far exceeded the actual film that they preceded. In the DC universe, the disappointing Suicide Squad comes to mind.

But you’re either a hater or totally robbed of your senses if you think The Batman trailer isn’t badass.

And who didn’t get way excited, when asked by a Joker minion who he was, Batman coldly responds, “I am vengeance!” So yes, I’m hyped! 🍿
