Whether you are a DCEU apologist or an MCU mouthpiece, we can all agree that Spider-Man: Homecoming and Wonder Woman are great movies. But if we pit Spiderman Homecoming v Wonder Woman, I wonder which movie comes out on top?
Judging movies against one another is often a matter of taste. And it’s really difficult to distinguish movies with similarly great quality like these two.
I love both films for various reasons, but I will apply as much logic as possible to rank them against each other.
I will rely on the three of the most popular movie websites in order to provide an official verdict in this mythical movie matchup!
Rotten Tomatoes
While its algorithm is imperfect, Rotten Tomatoes is a fairly good barometer of a movie’s overall quality. Folks tends to focus on the critical “Tomatometer” score, which determines whether a movie is considered “Rotten” or “Fresh.” But the audience score better reflects the opinion of everyday moviegoers like me.
Spiderman Homecoming has an excellent 92% RT score and a 90% audience score. If we take the average of the two scores, Homecoming gets a 91%.
Wonder Woman has an identical RT (92%) score and audience (90%) score as Spiderman.
The verdict: Tie!

Metacritic has a fairly complicated set of criteria for scoring movies. However, it’s widely accepted as one of the most in-depth, unbiased sources of a movie’s value in the eyes of critics. It’s kind of a bummer that they don’t weigh fan votes into their robust equation, but you can view the user score for each film separately.
Spiderman Homecoming scores a 73, with generally favorable reviews based on 51 critics. It has a user score of 7.7/10 based on 682 user votes to-date.
Wonder Woman has a 76 “metascore” with a 7.9/10 user score based on 1,469 votes to-date.
The verdict: Wonder Woman has a razor thin edge here, slicing through Peter Parker’s webs ever-so-slightly.

IMDB
One of the oldest and most popular movie websites, the IMDB movie database has a wealth of information on actors, directors, and of course, movies. It references Metacritic and reputable critics’ reviews across the Web, but it’s user ratings are its gold-based on their sheer volume. For popular movies, you will often see ratings totaling in the hundreds of thousands!
Spiderman Homecoming has an 8.0/10 out of 116,764 votes at the time of this post, while Wonder Woman has a 7.9/10 out of 212,645 votes.
The verdict: By the narrowest of margins, Spiderman barely lassoes in Diane Prince.

Spiderman Homecoming and Wonder Woman are great movies. You can’t go wrong with either film. Based on three of the most reputable of movie review sources (Rotten Tomatoes, Metacritic and IMDB), Homecoming wins this mythical movie matchup.
But a wise man once said, sometimes there are no real losers. And that is the case here. DCEU, MCU and comic book movie fans like, can all rejoice over these two jewels-making 2017 one of the greatest years in superhero movie history so far!
