With Christmas right around the corner and 2025 fast-approaching, there are five things that I’d like to see moving forward in the comic book movie genre.
They Are…
- No more live-action Sony superhero movies. After the bomb that is Kraven: The Hunter, enough already!! Making movies about Spider-Man’s villains, including Venom and Morbius without Spider-Man in them, has been largely a disaster. And don’t get me started on Madame Web. 👀
- Please, ease up on the multiversal MCU movies Mr. Feige. I get it Don’t get me wrong—the multiverse is cool way to introduce new characters without their own stand-alone introductory movies as well as a way to re-introduce fan favorites from previous films (think Spider-Man: No Way Home. But what happened to good ‘ole fashioned MCU original storytelling, circa 2008-2018?
- Sticking with the MCU, please confirm a release date for Mahershala Ali’s Blade sooner than later. The Oscar-winning actor is not getting any younger and I would like to see him appear as Blade as long as he can in the franchise. Let’s fugging go!
- James Gunn please restore credibility to the Man of Steel. Henry Cavill was not terrible as Superman but he also was no Christopher Reeve. The hope here is that James Gunn’s vision properly restores the Son of Jor -El to his rightful place as arguably the greatest superhero of all-time.
- And lastly, I wish that all of my comic book/superhero movie fans have a happy holidays and magnificent start to their new year!
