Firstly, I kind of enjoyed Mandalorian & Grogu. As a self-proclaimed “Baby Yoda” Stan and fan of Pedro Pascal/Djin Darin, I am all in on this content. And, I mean, who doesn’t love how Pascal kills it in these paternal roles—The Mandalorian, The Last of Us and The Fantastic Four? As expected, the child/parent chemistry is on full display here.
Secondly, I kinda didn’t like it that much. I feel that the two-hour+ movie could’ve been a two-part episode on Disney+. In fact, I believe that this was originally slated to be a series but was later added to Disney’s 2026 movie lineup. I think it would’ve been best served there.
Lastly, I think the movie is ok. Did it restore my faith in the Star Wars franchise? Not exactly. However, I do look forward to more Mando and Grogu. But honestly, I’d like to see it flushed out on streaming.
Is there a big-screen future for Mandalorian & Grogu? The financial bonanza in potential ticket sales and merchandise say yes. But I’m hopeful that it will become more compelling, creatively down the road.
