D.C. Studios’s TV Game Is On Point: Enter Lanterns

For all the praise that Marvel Studios has deservedly earned over the years, many comic book movie fans don’t give D.C Studios enough flowers. Especially, not lately-which is also fair, given the hit-or-miss performance of D.C. movies (i.e., during the Zack Snyder era).,

But like the box office-smashing comic book movie of the same name, it’s a brand new day. Six episodes into the fantastic Lanterns show, I got to thinking how great the D.C.-produced television adaptations have been.

Watchmen, Peacemaker, The Penguin, and now Lanterns are about as good as it gets in the small screen in this genre.

Which one has been the best? It’s hard to say. I probably have some recency bias towards Lanterns though.

But here’s my top five, ranked in order:

1. Peacemaker, Season 1
2. Lanterns: Season 1
3. Penguin, Season 1
4. Peacemaker, Season 2
5. Watchmen: Season 1

That’s quite the quintet of shows. I place Watchmen fifth because I admittedly only watched it in spots. However, every comic book Stan that I know swears by the show, so I put it on the list based on that merit.

D.C. has found its stride, especially on its streaming platform, HBO MAX. And I ain’t mad at that! I just hope that D.C.C does not do Lanterns like Marvel Studios (shots fired 💥 ) did the critically-acclaimed Wonder Man.
